David B Jang: Systems of Production

David B Jang, a Los Angeles-based sculptor born in Seoul, South Korea, is known for inventive kinetic installations that employ hacked consumer electronics and subverted household appliances. By using electro-mechanical engineering techniques to create interactive motorized artforms, Jang is propelled by the notion of the systems of production and what it means to re-direct the short life of cast-off mechanical parts and equipment into genuine objects of supreme beauty. Recycled and repurposed materials, in turn, become approachable, lovely, and infinite. This show is the first of the "Prequel to 2018" series of exhibitions held at the Kellogg Gallery.
